History
In 1877, when the Guards Depot opened in Caterham, the population was around 500 and Fr.John McKenna used to walk from West Croydon to visit the Catholics in the area.   The first Mass in Caterham was offered on Sunday, December 30th 1877.  Our first resident priest was Canon Francis Roe, who moved to Caterham on 24th August 1879.
The foundation Stone of the present church was laid by Bishop Danell on 24th June 1880 and Messrs. Longley, builders of Crawley undertook the building work.
